Heart to Heart "How-to's"
-
Make a one year
commitment to the relationship
-
Meet with each
other at least once a month. Do things together during your meeting
times. You may choose to do a Bible study, go shopping, learn a new
skill, serve in a ministry together or go to lunch. Each set of
partners is free to do what they want as long as they work on
developing the friendship,.
-
Contact each other
once a week by phone or email.
-
Pray for each other
regularly
-
In some
partnerships where both are married, the couples have gotten together
and it's been a great blessing to have an older couple to mentor the
younger one. Some single women have been taken into the family of her
older friend. This gives them a family when so many of them have moved
away from their own families.
-
There is
almost no end to where these friendships can lead. It depends on the
needs, the sensitivity, the time and the generosity of the partners.
However we can be sure that when we do what God commands us to do in
Titus 2:3-5, He will use our effort and bring blessings beyond
our imagination to us and to others.
